Karen has worked at Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust for seven years. Karen has led the drive to support educational establishments to review their practice with regards to emotional wellbeing and mental health, and foster a strategic Whole School Approach in order to increase early intervention and prevention and promote a culture where mental health is ‘everyone’s business’. Karen is a practicing counsellor working with children and young people age 5-18, so has direct experience of working with children and young people who are struggling with their mental health and emotional well-being.

Prior to working at Northorpe Hall, Karen worked in education for thirty years, the latter twenty as a Primary Head Teacher. Karen’s understanding, knowledge and skills in school leadership, combined with understanding, knowledge and skills in mental health and emotional wellbeing will be invaluable in supporting the development of the Senior Mental Health Lead role.
