Supporting Mental Health in Schools and Colleges
We deliver Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services alongside South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYFT) in Kirklees as part of the Thriving Kirklees partnership. Part of this includes supporting all Kirklees schools and colleges in their mental health support for children.
Schools and colleges have a significant role in the prevention and early identification of wellbeing. We recognise that there is a growing pressure for schools to spot the signs of emotional wellbeing difficulties. The hope is that early intervention can prevent mild difficulties emerging into mental illness issues. Together we can work in partnership to increase knowledge, understanding and confidence so that the Whole School Approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing is embedded.
Our Core Offer includes free staff CPD around signs symptoms and strategies. Schools can purchase additional bespoke services upon request.

What we offer:
Mental Health Lead Network Meetings
Meetings are open to staff who have a responsibility for mental health and wellbeing needs in school or college. The purpose of the network is to build relationships between services, share best practice, discuss challenges that we face as professionals, identify training needs, and to share local/national news. Meetings take place face to face Northorpe Barn and virtually three times a year.
Your allocated Education Link Worker can provide a free 1-1 consultation. This will include reviewing your Whole School Approach to Mental Health and prioritising next steps and action. It will also help the school to reflect on internal support systems, partnership working and staff wellbeing.
