Supporting mental health in schools

We deliver Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services alongside South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SWYFT) in Kirklees as part of the Thriving Kirklees partnership. Part of this includes supporting all Kirklees schools in their mental health support for children.

We recognise that there is a growing pressure for schools to spot the signs of emotional wellbeing difficulties. The hope is that early intervention can prevent mild difficulties emerging into mental illness.

In response, we have developed a core package of mental health training sessions for school staff to access. Throughout, we encourage a whole school approach meaning that there are minimum requirements for number of attendees. Providing that we have information on your provisions’ dedicated Emotional Wellbeing Lead and Deputy Lead, then all of our sessions can be accessed for free.

What we offer:

Emotional Wellbeing Lead Network Meetings

Emotional Wellbeing Leads are invited to attend our Wellbeing Networks, hosted in the barn at Northorpe Hall three times a term. The purpose of the network is to build relationships between services, share best practice, discuss challenges that we face as professionals, identify training needs, and to share local/national news.

Note: due to Corona Virus these events have been postponed.
