Mirfield Rotary Sing for Children’s Mental Health!

Liz Higgins and Gill Hawksworth of Mirfield Rotary today presented a cheque for £312 to Tom Taylor, Director of Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust. The funds were raised from donations collected during an enthusiastic Saturday morning of carol singing at Mirfield’s Cooperative supermarket just before Christmas.

Tom Taylor said “Mirfield Rotary and the Coop have given us fantastic support in recent years, helping us to support more children with their mental and emotional health.” The charity provides counselling, mental health advice, creative activities and family support to reach over 3000 local children each year.

“Though much of our charitable work is funded by Kirklees Council and health contracts, we work hard to raise extra funds.” Tom said, “Our beautiful barn is available for weddings and events at weekends and available some weekdays for business meetings over breakfast or lunch, with profits going to the charity. If anyone is interested in being a fundraising volunteer, we’d love to hear from them. There are always more children and families needing support.”

Gill and Liz said “Mirfield Rotary is delighted to support the vital work of Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust. Children and families need somewhere to turn when things are difficult and the Trust provides an effective and caring service.”
