Are you a young person aged
between 8 and 18, living within Kirklees, who cares for a
family member – parent, grandparent, brother or sister
– who is ill, has a disability, has mental health problems
or who is affected by alcohol or substance misuse? If you
are, you may be able to join Young Carers.
As a young carer, you may be undertaking
a wide range of caring jobs including:
Household tasks - cleaning, cooking,
shopping and ironing
Personal care - washing, dressing,
personal care and helping your relative get around
Medical Care - giving injections
or medicine
Emotional Support - listening and
helping other family members to feel okay.
We can offer you:
A break from caring
Outings and activities
Someone to talk to
Individual support and advice
Information on other services that
may help you
Support groups to help you
You should be able to
have time off from caring. You should be able to enjoy the
experiences of growing up that other children and young people
can take for granted:
Time out with friends
Fun
Time to be alone
Holidays and outings
Hopes and plans for the future
And we would like to help you do this. For
more information, please contact
us.
